The show will take place from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma and Mo will be facing Seth Petruzelli (14-7 MMA). Some of you may remember Petruzelli as he knocked out Kimbo Slice in 14 seconds at an EliteXC: Heat event back in 2008. He’s also been a past guest on WZR Radio.

– ROH released the following “Life and Times of The Briscoes” video. This is to hype their upcoming brother vs. brother match:

You can order the show at this link.

– The following preview for Friday’s FWE iPPV was sent out today…

In less than a week, June 21st, the second annual “Welcome To The Rumble” will take place live at The Elmcor Center in Corona, NY and live on iPPV (www.wwnlive.com). The winner of the Welcome To The Rumble Match will receive a shot at either the World Heavyweight Title, The Tri-Borough Title or World Tag Team Titles. They may choose and have up to June 21st, 2014 to use that shot.

Main Event:
F.W.E. World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Carlito Colon vs John Hennigan fka John Morrison: Making his F.W.E. debut will be none other than John Hennigan, the former John Morrison! Colon and Hennigan have feuded in the past so these men know each other well. This match is sure to be in the F.W.E. highlight reel and talked about for quite some time. Will Hennigan pull a page out of Colon’s book and win a Championship during his debut appearance or will Colon’s reign over F.W.E. continue?

“The Innovator Of Violence” Tommy Dreamer vs “The Whole F’N Show” Rob Van Dam: In another debut, making this the first time this match has happened in years, Rob Van Dam makes his FWE debut when he faces his old ECW friend and rival, Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer, the former FWE World Heavyweight Champion is coming off of a loss in his quest to regain the FWE Championship when Carlito Colon retained the title at No Limits ’13 in a TLC Match with Matt Hardy also involved. Dreamer would love nothing more than to get a huge victory the night before House of Hardcore 2 takes place. RVD on the other hand is looking to become “Mr. FWE” or Mr. iPPV” and 5 Star Frog Splash his way to contention for a FWE Title.

FWE Tri-Borough Championship Match:
Paul London vs Akio Yang: At “No Limits ’13″ London defeated tag team partner and best friend Brian Kendrick to earn a shot at Damien Darling and the FWE Tri-Borough Championship and he ended the reign of the longest reigning Tri-Borough Champion. At the same event, we saw the debut of Jimmy Wang Yang when he defeated Sonjay Dutt. During and post event, Yang has been tormented by Stone Cold ET. He has reverted to a darker side of himself and Akio Yang will emerge to attempt to wrest the Tri-Borough Title from London.

Tag Team Warfare:
Jigsaw & Tony Nese vs The Young Bucks: After making their debut at “No Limits ’13″ in an incredible Four Way Match, Jigsaw & Tony Nese become partners. Their opponents almost wrestled away the F.W.E. World Tag Team Titles from Adrenaline Express at “No Limits ’13.” After winning a hellacious Gauntlet Match to face AE, they came up just a hair short. The Bucks are pissed and want nothing more than to receive another shot at AE. If Jigsaw & Nese can hand them another loss, they would have to shoot up the ladder of the Tag Team Rankings.

Angelina Love & Katarina Leigh vs Maria Kanellis (FWE Womens Champion) & Ivelisse Velez: The cream of the crop in the Women’s division. This match has a lot going on in it. We have the reformation of the Angelina/Katarina pairing, their first time teaming in a FWE ring. Angelina failed to become the champion at “No Limits ’13″ and Katarina has been attempting to get another crack at Maria after the belt was stolen from her at FWE: X. Ivelisse made an impressive FWE debut at “No Limits ’13″ when she defeated Reby Sky. Now two of the most dominant females in FWE team up to take out their challengers. When all the dust is settled, will we see Angelina and Katarina standing tall and then go on to see who will get a shot at Maria? Will Maria and Ivelisse stand tall and might that help but Ivelisse in line for a shot?

Brian Kendrick vs “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams: This match was originally supposed to take place at “Dysfunctional Family” Brian Kendrick will face Petey Williams. They have had limited ring time when they were in the Dream 6 Man Tag at “Back 2 Brooklyn.” This match could go a long way in deciding a top contender for the Tri – Borough Championship. Kendrick would love to score a victory here as he lost to London at “No Limits ’13.” Petey came out the winner in a huge 4 Way match that involved Wes Draven, Jigsaw & Tony Nese. He’d love to increase his winning streak.

Welcome To The Rumble: Welcome To The Rumble is a game changer. During last year’s we saw everything from Tag teams entering together, Eric Young reclaiming his stolen F.W.E. World Heavyweight Championship from Charlie Haas, Daivari making a shocking debut, A.J. Pan entering the Rumble and Jay Lethal winning Welcome To The Rumble and later on challenging and defeating Eric Young to become the F.W.E. World Heavyweight Champion. Who will enter this year? Already announced are: The Patriot, Jorge Santi, Paul London, Mike Bennett, Adrenaline Express (FWE World Tag Team Champions), Sam Shields, The Young Bucks, Diamond Inc., Bandido Jr., Alex Reynolds, Chris Mordetzky (fka Chris Masters), Damien Darling, Stone Cold ET, Wes Draven, Akio Yang & Johnny Knockout.

AAA had a disastrous night with their iPPV of Triplemania XXI on UStream as the show never aired at all, the screen was black the whole time and the promotion tweeted on their account that UStream was to blame for this inconvenience. There is no word on if the show will air as a replay or whether any refunds will be given but this was a complete debacle.

AAA inducted Abismo Negro in their Hall of Fame tonight with his family and Mini Abismo Negro being there to accept on his behalf. A well deserved honor for someone who was a key performer in the promotion for close to 15 years.

AAA 6/16 Results- Arena Ciudad de Mexico City (Triplemania XXI)

1. Elegido/Fabi Apache/Dinastia/Pimpinela Escarlata beat Silver Kain/Taya Valkyrie/Mini Abismo Negro/Black Mamba

2. #1 Contender Match por el AAA Mega Heavyweight Title: Heavy Metal defeated Chessman

3. 5 Way Dance por el AAA Tag Titles: Crazy Boy & Joe Lider beat Drago & Fenix to win the titles. Order of Elimination: Angelico & Jack Evans/Los Mamitos (Mr. E & Sexy B)/Halloween & Psicosis Original/Drago & Fenix – After the match Vampiro made his return and presented the titles that he vacated with Joe Lider to Joe & Crazy Boy. Konnan then came out and got into a verbal debate with Vamp teasing a future match.

4. Jeff Jarrett/Monster Pain/Matt Morgan defeated The Psycho Circus (Monster Clown/Murder Clown/Psycho Clown) with La Bruja Karen verbally fighting with Marisela Pena being the story here.

5. AAA Mega Heavyweight Title: Hijo del Texano beat Heavy Metal to retain his title. Ray Mendoza Jr. came out after the match and formally challenged Texano to a shot at the title but said that he would need time to get in condition since he is “retired.”

6. Decision Match por el AAA Latin America Heavyweight Title: Blue Demon Jr. defeated El Mesias to win the title in a tecnico style match that the crowd didn’t really care for. L.A. Par-K made his return and presented Demon the title that he vacated and said that even though he left AAA he could come back if he wanted to. Everyone hugged afterwards.

7. Dr. Wagner Jr./Electroshock/Octagon/La Parka Jr. beat Canek/Mascara Ano Dos Mil/Universo Dos Mil/Villano IV in a match full of interference from Dorian Roldan who was helping the anti-AAA guys even though they really didn’t want his help. Erick “El Goyito” Perez did accompany Octagon but did nothing.

8. Caballera contra Caballera: Perro Aguayo Jr. defeated Cibernetico in a wild bloody brawl filled with weapons, ref bumps, Perros & Bizarros running out and getting stretchered out before Perrito pinned Ciber after a Lanza. Perrito dedicated the match to Hector Garza who was honored before the match in a video package and all the fathers on Dia del Padre. Ciber was indeed shaved bald as well in the first hair loss of his career.

This show was set to begin at 8:00pm and didn’t get going until 9:15pm. There were a ton of people buying tickets at the door. The standing room sections were packed. Despite the late start, the crowd was super energetic.

We began with Excalibur, the “Liaison to the PWG Board of Directors” running down the rules of the building. This ended with the traditional cry of “We Recycle.”

1. The Incredible F*cking Machines (Brian Cage and Michael Elgin) defeated The RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime and Johnny Yuma). Brian Cage, who the Reseda crowd loves, has taken to being a more muscular version of The Red Rooster. His hair looks weird, basically, and I’m pretty sure he has gotten bigger.

This was a classic power display match for Cage and Elgin, who fought against the conniving heel version of The RockNES Monsters. Most of the match featured the Monsters getting over-powered, almost losing, cheating, then finding their way back to offense where the cycle would begin again. Elgin ended this vicious (and very entertaining) cycle with his 360 Powerbomb to get the win for his team.

2. Kyle O’Reilly defeated Davey Richards. I saw these two tear the house down at the WCA show in April on Los Angeles in a more technical and serious match. They tore the house down again in PWG by mixing their technical prowess with a little bit of fun. Richards is very funny when he comes out of his shell. O’Reilly just gets better and better every time I see him.

This match had a lot of technical wrestling up front. They didn’t resort to a ton of dives and other craziness. They rapid move flurries were what one expects from top caliber indie workers. Richards and O’Reilly put together a great match and executed it. O’Reilly got the win after hitting a strong series of moves for a near fall, then transitioning into some sort of arm lock. Richards quickly tapped.

After the match, Davey Richards gave his stereotypical Davey post-match promo putting over his opponent. I won’t say O’Reilly didn’t deserve the praise, but Davey tends to do this a little too often.

3. The Dojo Bros (Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong) defeated Chuck Taylor and Johnny Gargano. PWG loves Chuck Taylor an awful lot. He captures the spirit of comedy mixed with seriousness perfectly for this crowd. This match was a great example of this. He was chopped repeatedly, so he put on the hoodie Gargano wears to the ring. At one point, just as he was taking it off, he was chopped again. It was funny.

Edwards and Strong seemed to dominate this match. There were hope spots for Gargano and Taylor, but not many. I was surprised at Gargano’s connection to the crowd, which I believed would be stronger. Perhaps these things just take more time.

4. Drake Younger defeated Kevin Steen. This match was pretty insane. Younger didn’t resort to his standard death match style, but he did take some huge bumps. Kevin Steen was up for the task of taking huge bumps as well. This turned into a very entertaining brawl all over the building.

As one point, fans in the standing room seats were chanting about not being able to see. Kevin Steen suggested they buy front row next time. Kevin Steen is brilliant. The major spots in this match all happened around the ring and some even from the ring apron down into the crowd. It was intense and really fun.

PWG World Champion Adam Cole ran in towards the end and took Steen out with the title. He then went after Drake Younger, but was foiled. Younger was able to follow this attack and get a pinfall over Steen.

Intermission happened, which was a nice chance for everyone to regroup for the next two matches.

5. The Young Bucks defeated A.R. Fox and Samuray Del Sol. I have never seen Samuray Del Sol live and after doing so, I completely understand why WWE has signed him. The man is amazing. He’s at a level I’ve only seem in guys like the younger version of Rey Mysterio. Del Sol is so smooth in the ring and so good at what he does. This match wasn’t specifically built to showcase him, but it did. He’s just that good.

The Young Bucks are consistently one of the most over acts in PWG. People hate them, but people also really love hating them. The Bucks play the undersized heel role really well. Their skills at working up the crowd and their athleticism combined here for a great effort.

A.R. Fox was great in this match, but he still needs to step up his game in multiple areas. He does a ton of moves, but he doesn’t organically connect with the crowd. He is flashy and can fly, but he lacks a little in the charisma department. He was a great part of this match, but also the lesser part of it. He’s an amazing talent and I believe he’ll get there.

The match concluded (after a whole lot of flying and a whole lot of fun) with The Young Bucks hitting More Bang for your Buck on Del Sol and pinning him.

6. Adam Cole defeated Sami Callihan in a 60 minute Iron Man match. The final score was 6-5. This match began just before midnight. This is where the show got long. It was a really good match, but it was happening from midnight to 1:00am. Maybe I’m just an old man, but it was late.

Cole scored the first fall around 8 minutes in with a low blow. He scored the second by reversing a small package about thirty seconds later. Very soon after, Cole pinned Callihan again to go up three to zero. Cole taunted Callihan by running around the room discussing his three fall lead.

Around 29 minutes in Sami Callihan earned his first fall via his Stretch Muffler submission hold. He transitioned quickly to a rear naked choke for a second fall a minute later. Callihan and Cole then battled with back and forth roll-ups where Callihan was able to score two falls. Callihan was up 4-3 just past the half way point.

Cole managed to tie things up with a Straightjacket German Suplex around 37 minutes, then take the lead with a Canadian Destroyer and pin around 42 minutes. With just 12 minutes remaining, Callihan tied things at 5-5 with a roll-up. At 57 minutes, Adam Cole rolled Callihan up to take the lead with just three minutes to go.

Adam Cole tried to run away and run out the clock, making his way all over the building. Callihan pursued. With a minute left Callihan locked Cole in the Stretch Muffler, then transitioned it into a vicious looking half-crab with about 20 seconds left. The time ran out before Cole passed out in the hold, giving the win to Cole.

The match had its slow points, as one hour efforts often do. The crowd got a little quiet up until the finish. It wasn’t amazing, but it was very good. People were engaged and Cole and Callihan worked really hard. The match is totally worth watching and was very very good.

After the match Cole and Callihan hugged and Cole looked to be celebrating Callihan, until he put the boots to him. Kevin Steen ran down from commentary and ran Cole out of the ring. Other members of the PWG roster came out to give a nice Reseda farewell to Sami Callihan. Callihan thanked the wrestlers and fans as the show ended.

Pruett’s Pause: This was an excellent show. Yes, it was long and late, but the quality of the wrestling more than made up for it. Sami Calihan an Adam Cole left everything they had in the ring in a very good one hour match. Kevin Steen and Drake Younger had the match of the night. The Young Bucks vs. A.R. Fox and Samuray Del Sol tore the house down. This is not a show to be missed.

The question asked going into this show was if your body was ready. I’m not sure if an answer was ever given, but I can assure you my body was pretty psyched as the show ended. I haven’t been to a bad show yet in Reseda. PWG is the best in independent professional wrestling today.

The Gathering of the Champions proved to be a night that no one will forget.

The crowning of a new NWA National Heavyweight Champion made it a night to remember for Vordell Walker.

Walker, who had been chasing the NWA National Championship and the now former champion Damien Wayne, finally had Wayne where he wanted him: in a steel cage.

Walker and Wayne had fought previously at NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling with Walker not getting the outcome he fought so hard for. However, after getting Wayne in a steel cage, Walker knew that it was going to be another hard fight on Friday night.

Both men fought hard to show that neither were ready to give up. However, Walker would walk away with the victory and the championship that he worked so hard to gain.

At the end of the match, Walker would have his hand held high with his newly won title and showed his true emotion on what he did and how long of a road that he would have had to travel. But Walker would show that a champion is not above giving thanks for the hard work and for the backing of the fans. Damien Wayne showed true grace with even after losing the NWA National Heavyweight Championship, he would walk back into the ring and into the cage and shake the hand of Vordell Walker.

The Gathering of Champions was also a night of amazing matches for the fans of Millersville, Tennessee.

Seeing before the main event, Chase Stevens and “Iron Man” Rob Conway battled it out in the ring for a thirty minute time limit draw. Conway and Stevens showcased their experience and showed that their talent is what champions were made of.

With each of the other matches that were on The Gathering of the Champions, each person that walked to the ring showed that the night was made for dreams and each of these wrestlers were living the dream.
