Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky received the cease and desist letter from ROH in regard to his Facebook comments on May 15th. There has been bad blood between the two sides since Sapolsky was dismissed from the company, which led to EVOLVE’s creation. As previously reported, Sapolsky signed an agreement saying that he wouldn’t talk poorly about ROH, but Sapolsky believes that ROH is a different company now that Sinclair bought them and reorganized them under an LLC.

Asked about the issue during a media conference call, ROH COO Joe Koff said, “I’m not going to respond to his comments specifically because I’m going to consider the source of his comments. I can’t refute or dispute perception. I can refute and dispute credible sources. I’m not going to get into that conversation about that. He makes a good point…I will tell you that this company is well financed and work with people we rely on for their expertise….and I think this was something that was unanticipated from our own analytics and our own analysis of what it was. The load was tested. We thought that we should be fine with what the normal number of buys are and how they come in through course of a day. we were fooled, and I’m going to say that positively, even though it ended up negatively, at the positive response to this product and we did not anticipate that. And shame on us for not anticipating that. It’s not a money issue at all. It really isn’t a money issue. It just happened to be an unfortunate call on our part thinking [the server was] strong enough to carry the show. That’s the way it happened.”

Sapolsky declined comment, but responded on his Facebook page saying, “You stop yourself from saying something 1000 times, but the one time you take 30 seconds and write something out of anger it blows up beyond your imagination. If you are reading this the bottom line is all you really care about is great wrestling, good storylines and something compelling. We had two awesome EVOLVE shows last weekend….Our staff of Ivan, Bryan, Sean and Brandon among others, led by Sal, worked tirelessly to put on those two memorable events and great iPPV streams. I took the attention away from all that by losing my cool for a moment and lashing out with profanity. I can’t make any promises in the future, but I’ll remember this lesson. I ended up doing the last thing I wanted to do- take the attention off the wrestling that we all care about.”

Apparently even beasts can be slowed down. Had the flu and a stomach virus last week. Found out today I have diverticulitis. Down 12 pounds. Still plan on murdering some b*tches this weekend. I have a loss to redeem and more to prove than ever before. #goodluckstrongandcole

Diverticulitis is small, bulging sacs or pouches of the inner lining of the intestine (diverticulosis) that become inflamed or infected. Most often, these pouches are in the large intestine (colon). No one knows exactly what causes the sacs, or pouches of diverticulosis to form. Eating a low-fiber diet is one of the most likely causes according to studies.

ROH is trying to enforce an agreement Sapolsky signed in October 2008 he left ROH agreeing not to disparage the company. Sapolsky is likely to contend that the agreement was signed before ROH was reorganized under Sinclair Broadcasting. He also never specifically mentioned ROH in his rant but that’s clearly who he was talking about.

ROH has not responded to requests for comment.

“When the ownership and management of a company doesn’t care or have enough respect for its employees and more importantly paying customers to spend enough money to have adequate equipment they can fuck off. When a company decides to go on the cheap and take a risk that something like a website will work instead of doing everything in their power to guarantee it will work they can fuck off. If the ownership and management doesn’t care or respect it’s fans enough to do this they don’t deserve your support.”

– ROH will be taping TV footage on June 15th in Charleston, West Virginia.

– Jay Briscoe vs. Charlie Haas in a Lights Out match has been added to the Saturday event in Richmond, VA.

– The company has released a new DVD titled ROH – Year One. Here is the listing for the DVD…

– The Great Muta will be hosting his first ever seminar in the United States as well as scouting talent for All Japan Pro Wrestling on June 2nd. The event takes place in Rahway, NJ, and Kai from AJPW will also be there. The seminar costs $125 and will be limited to only 50 participants. Muta, who will have a translator on hand, will evaluate wrestlers as well as provide tips and advice for improving their craft inside the ring. – Ring of Honor head Joe Koff will be holding a media conference call tomorrow afternoon to address the iPPV issues with Border Wars and the company’s plans going forward with iPPV.

– Walk up ticket sales for the Border Wars iPPV were the largest in some time for the company.

– Jim Cornette was not in attendance as he was unable to get over the Canadian border during the company’s last shows there. Delirious ran the locker room, which he usually does with Cornette.

– ROH will be taping TV this Friday at the Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

– Here is Kevin Steen’s first promo as ROH Champion…

– Attendance at the weekend events in Charlotte and Concord was described as horrible, with around 100 fans attending both shows. The company had concerns going into the last few weeks as there were issues with the local promoter. WWNLive.com was formed to replace the dwindling DVD market, but in this case, the iPPV was able to keep the promotion from a devastating loss. While not happy with attendance, the promotion will consider a return in the future.

– Jon Davis turned in good performances in what was described as a do or die situation with the company.

– AR Fox’s stock is also said to be on the rise following his performances. After being turned away at the Canadian border, there was a good chance this weekend was going to be his last with the promotion. At this point it looks as if he will stay on due to his performances.

– When EVOLVE arrived at the Charlotte, NC venue, the local internet company had not installed what was needed to pull off the iPPV. WWNLive’s Sal Hamaoui was able to get things together and they streamed without issue.

– Low Ki did not bring the IWGP Junior Heavyweight championship belt with him to the events, and there is no talk of him defending the belt Stateside in EVOLVE or DGUSA.

– There are plans for El Generico to make more appearances down the line.

– DGUSA will be announcing live events for July.
