Backstage Update On Cole’s Character, Top WWE Heel?

Michael Cole’s heel character has been toned down in recent weeks. This is a call by Vince McMahon, who goes back and forth on the character. Some weeks he feels that Cole should be a strong heel, but then there are weeks he feels that he should be a neutral “voice of WWE.”

WWE officials think that Jinder Mahal has potential to be a top heel in the company. WWE is looking to strengthen it’s position in India and with The Great Khalia’s career likely winding down, Mahal could be a big asset for the company.

Monday’s RAW has been advertised as “Shawn Michaels Appreciation Night,” but it appears that this will be non-televised and for the live crowd only. There had been speculation that WWE would use the appreciation night angle as a vehicle to have Brock Lesnar appear and get heat by attacking Michaels. Of course, plans can change and it’s very possible Shawn will appear before the live crowd as he will be backstage at the tapings anyways. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

WWE’s average domestic live event attendance in June was 4,501, down 22% from 5,771 in June of 2011. For a comparison, both Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer are up since last year.

Tenille Tayla made her in-ring debut for Florida Championship Wrestling at Saturday night’s live event from Melbourne, Florida. Tayla, who was trained by Lance Storm, appeared in a divas battle royal, which was won by Paige.
