How Much TNA Paid AJ Styles & What He Makes Now

We noted last week here on the website that former TNA star AJ Styles recently appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that he’s already made more money working the indies and New Japan Pro Wrestling than he would have made in all of 2014 working for TNA Wrestling.

In an update on this, Styles noted that he’s already made close to what he made with TNA in 2013. Styles went on to say his TNA deal in 2013 paid around $350,000 but the latest deal he turned down would have ended up at just over $200,000 per year. Basically, they tried to cut his pay by $150,000 according to him.

The fact is …. he was making $350,000 per year in TNA (not including merchandise/DVD/PPV bonuses) and that’s more than some lower-card WWE talents make. Of course, there is more travel, etc. involved with WWE so debate that how you will.

Do you believe AJ? …. or is he just bitter? Let us know in the comments section below!

He isn’t bitter. Just glad that he got out. From the beginning of this year he worked so many dates competing in matches all over. He has done autograph sessions & is making money off his own merchandise. Plus by summer time he had acquired the IWGP Heavyweight title as apart of the Bullet Club faction. I’d imagine that he has made as much as what he made in TNA 2013 or has gone over the dollar figure.

NJPW pay for travel, accomodation etc. Yes, I believe him. Not sure what WWE and the money there lower card talent make is relevent. Also TNA doesn’t sell many PPV’s, DVD’s and talent only get a percentage of merch. Now AJ can sell his own stuff and pocket all the money. Also not sure how any part of this story suggests Styles is bitter.

How do you know NJPW pay for travels and accomodation? Are you aware of this for a fact, if so, care to point us to the same thing you’re aware to which leads to this conclusion.
