Exclusive: Talents Contacting CT Newspapers & More
By Ryan Clark on August 14, 2012
The Greenwich Times recently did an article on the release of Abraham Washington, including comments from him and the WWE. Here is what Washington (real name Brian Jossie) had to say…
“That’s how they show support for their employees who want to support Linda. They fire them. That’s complete bull(expletive). For some reason they don’t want to associate her with anything to do with wrestling because it’s in the past.
If I had made a Jerry Sandusky or a Colorado shooting joke, okay, fire me right there. WWE put a convicted rapist in the Hall of Fame (referring to Mike Tyson).”
I don’t hate the WWE. I love the company. But the way the politics are with her campaign, it screwed me.”
WWE responded in the article with the following…
“WWE is a non-partisan organization. Superstars as well as employees are free to support any political party or candidate they choose. Unfortunately, Brian Jossie, playing the character of A.W., was terminated because he continued to exhibit poor judgment by making offensive and inappropriate comments on live television and on social media.”
Clearly, WWE is doing damage control here with the Linda McMahon senate campaign. This is exactly what mid-card talents wanted to happen – for the CT newspapers to pick up on this. WWE doesn’t seem to realize this is going to severely effect Linda McMahon’s senate campaign with more mid-card talents going to the media. Trust us when we tell you many others are contacting people within the Connecticut media as well as people against Linda McMahon’s campaign to let them know about what WWE is doing with travel and pay.
