I’ve attended dozens of WWE and independent shows in my lifetime, but Sunday night’s Raw house show in Wichita was downright awful. The talent (or lack there of) that appeared was disgraceful. The following are the wrestlers that appeared in no particular order:

Dean Ambrose
Michael McGillicutty
Zack Ryder
Antonio Cesaro
Santino Marrella
Layla
Eve Torres
A.J. Lee
Damien Sandow
R-Truth
Kofi Kingston
Daniel Bryan
Kane
Brodus Clay
Tensai
Big Show
C.M. Punk (w/Paul Heyman, who said nothing all night)

Why would anyone pay to see this roster?!

I saw Dean Ambrose for the first time tonight and could not have been more disappointed. On the flip side, Damien Sandow was the one shining star of the evening. He’s gonna be good.

I was excited to hear Paul Heyman would appear, but he did nothing. No mic time, just the typical shell of Paul E. Dangerously manager gig.

Tonight’s matches were very forgettable and effortless. You can only see so many headlocks, chest slaps, and Irish Whips before you are ready to leave. We were subjected to ten minutes of comedy and/or the gig where the “face” runs to a corner for a pop, then the “heel” does the same and gets booed… repeatedly. After that, we would get a poor five-minute match. We did get the Kane and Daniel Bryan “hug it out” thing, but it literally lasted 15 minutes. By the time it ended, I needed anger management myself.

I’d estimate tonight’s attendance at 4,500, which is about par for a house show. I don’t know about anyone else in the building, but I felt like demanding a refund.

Yeah, it was just Wichita (still the 86th largest metropolitan area in the U.S.) and it was only a house show to cap off a long week on the road, but I thought tonight’s effort by WWE sucked. As a long-time fan, they have officially lost my entertainment dollar. No more floor seats and $10 beers; I’ll just stay home and watch MMA.
